Basic Spider Craft

Making spider crafts is a fun activity for kids. They can create their own creepy crawly creatures using simple materials. Here is a basic spider craft that kids can easily make at home.

Materials Needed

  • Black pipe cleaners
  • Googly eyes
  • Glue
  • Scissors

Instructions

  1. Take four black pipe cleaners and fold them in half to make eight legs.
  2. Twist the folded part of the pipe cleaners together to make the spider’s body.
  3. Cut a small piece of pipe cleaner and twist it around the body to make the spider’s head.
  4. Glue two googly eyes onto the head.
  5. Bend the legs to give the spider a realistic look.

Kids can make multiple spiders and create a spider web by hanging them from a string. They can also decorate their spiders with glitter or paint to make them more colorful.

I made a similar spider craft from a toilet paper roll. This is one of my favorite Halloween crafts to date! It’s a great project for younger preschool kids too. Not only are they cute but so much fun to make!

Spider Web Crafts

Let us show you a few ways to make your own paper spider web below.

Paper Plate Web

One of the easiest spider web crafts for kids is the paper plate web. To make this craft, you will need a paper plate, some white yarn, and a plastic spider.

  1. Cut out the center of the paper plate so that you have a ring shape.
  2. Tie a knot at one end of the yarn and tape it to the back of the paper plate ring.
  3. Start wrapping the yarn around the paper plate, crisscrossing it back and forth until you have a web-like pattern.
  4. When you are done, tie the end of the yarn to the back of the paper plate and attach the plastic spider to the web.

Yarn Spider Web

Another fun spider web craft for kids is the yarn spider web. For this craft, you will need some black yarn, white glue, and wax paper.

  1. Cut a piece of wax paper and fold it in half.
  2. Draw a spider web design on one half of the wax paper using the white glue.
  3. Take the black yarn and start tracing over the spider web design with the yarn, making sure to cover all the lines with the yarn.
  4. When you are done, let the glue dry completely.
  5. Once the glue is dry, carefully peel the yarn spider web off the wax paper.

These spider web crafts are perfect for Halloween or any time of the year when your kids want to get creative.
