How to Make an Easy Leprechaun Craft with a toilet paper roll
Step 1:
Take the empty toilet paper roll and place it on top of the green paper to mark the width of the roll. Once you have marked the width, cut out a strip of that width from the green paper.
Step 2:
Wrap this strip of green paper around the toilet paper roll to cover it completely. Cut the excess and glue the green strip of paper in place, wrapped around the toilet paper roll.
Step 3:
From the beige or brown color of your choice, cut out a semi-circular shape as shown in the picture. Glue this shape onto the now-green paper roll by aligning the straight edge of the semi-circle with the top edge of the toilet paper roll.
This will be the face of the leprechaun.
Step 4:
On top of the “face” draw two eyes and a mouth using the marker. You could even use googly eyes for this and give your Leprechaun as silly or as fun an expression as you wish!
Step 5:
From the green colored paper, cut out two circles, one larger than the size of the toilet paper roll and one smaller than it. Also, cut out a rectangular piece from the same paper.
Step 6:
Roll the rectangular paper to form a cylinder shape and glue the ends together.
Step 7:
Place the cylinder on top of the larger green circle and cover the top of the cylinder with the smaller green circle. Use the glue to stick them all in place.
This will be the hat.
Step 8:
Cut out a thin strip from the black paper and glue it around the bottom of the cylinder part of the hat.
Step 9:
Cut out a square shape from one of the colored papers and make another square cut inside it. Glue this piece onto the middle of the black strip added to the hat.
Step 10:
Glue the completed hat on top of the Leprechaun body.
Step 11:
For the pot of gold, cut out a “pot” or simply a semi-circle from the black paper.
Put glue onto a portion of the top as shown and cover it in glitter. Dust the excess glitter off and now you have a pot of gold! Add a small handle if you like.
Arrange the pot of gold beside the Leprechaun and you have the complete St. Patrick’s set!
This cute craft can be made extra easy by cutting out the pieces from the colored paper before starting. You could then let the kids solve it like a puzzle as they put together the different parts!
What do you think? Could your kids easily create this cute St. Patrick’s Day craft?
I hope you enjoyed this craft and we’ve inspired you to create your own!
