Looking for unique slime recipes to try at home? I love experimenting with homemade slime using common ingredients. I was hoping that one of my favorite shampoo slime recipes with Head and Shoulders would be a success, but read on to see how it works out. I’m no stranger to slime recipes; I’ve made slime with Elmer’s glue, warm water at room temperature, contact solution, baking soda, shaving cream, and the list goes on. So does it work? I experimented with Head and Shoulders and 3 other additives and I’m here to share all about it.
Attempting to make slime with Head and Shoulders shampoo three different ways
Slime with Head and Shoulders shampoo and toothpaste
My first attempt with shampoo slime was with adding toothpaste. This is what I did:
- 2 tablespoons of Head and Shoulders shampoo
- 1 teaspoon of toothpaste
- Add baking soda as needed to solidify
- food coloring optional

Mix ingredients together until well blended and then put in the freezer for an hour.

Did it work? Nope. Sadly, it looked and felt just like Icing that you eat! Except I didn’t want to eat this. Ugh, it bled all over my hands too.
Slime with head and Shoulders shampoo and salt
Second attempt to make slime with shampoo, I added salt. These are my steps:
- 2 tablespoons of Head and Shoulders shampoo
- 1 teaspoon of toothpaste
- add baking soda as needed
- salt

Mix together until well blended. I had planned to put it in the refrigerator but darn it if it didn’t turn into liquid! What the heck! Look how runny it is! This was a major fail…moving on to attempt number three.

Slime with Head and Shoulders shampoo, baking soda and contact solution
Slime attempt number three consisted of blending these ingredients together:
- 2 tablespoons of Head and Shoulders shampoo
- 1 teaspoon of contact solution
- baking soda to solidify as needed

Once these ingredients were blended I put the mixture in the fridge for 30 minutes. When I took it out, I wasn’t happy at all with the “slime,” if you could call it that.

So the question remains,
Can you make slime with Head and Shoulders shampoo?
My opinion is No, you cannot make successful slime with Head and Shoulders shampoo. Clearly, I have not been successful with three different attempts of three different recipes of this shampoo slime recipe.
What are your thoughts? Could I have done anything differently? Prove me wrong!
This should have been an easy project but I just couldn’t get the mixture correct. Or is there a correct mixture?
