My daughter came home the other day with crayon marks all over her new Lululemon backpack. Gasp. I know, why did we pay so much for a darn backpack. Either way, here we are. She’s got red crayon stains all over her new backpack and now she doesn’t even want to use it. NOPE, there’s got to be a quick solution.

After going down a rabbit hole to clean the stained area, including warm water with stain remover, laundry detergent hacks, rubbing alcohol and other “fabric cleaners,” I almost gave up. Stupid crayon wax would not budge. I even heard to use a warm iron with paper towels, but wouldn’t that just soak the crayon into the fabric more?
Y’all, after using what I thought would be the “right techniques,” I finally landed on the right one. Good news!
So here is where I came up with a smart solution:
Liquid Dish Soap + Baking Soda

Just like with everything else, different techniques will respond in different ways to each fabric type. This is the stain removal method that worked for me. Let me walk you through how I cleaned my daughters backpack with this easy cleaning hack.
This is super easy folks. Below is the backpack with the stain.

Just mix the liquid dish soap and baking soda, and then rub it into the fabric. I even used the spray form and sprayed it then dropped a little baking soda on top. I let it sit about 10 minutes and watched the crayon residue magically go away! Once I wiped away the remaining residue, I put the backpack in the washing machine. Once it went through the gentle wash cycle, it looked better than new.

I got so excited about how well it worked that I decided to take my cleaning hack to her metal water bottle.

Do you think it worked?

I’m so excited I found this cleaning hack. Make sure to watch my quick YouTube video to see it in action.
Every mom (heck every person) always need a good cleaning hack. This is it for me! At least for now…
Happy cleaning!
