So many people who want to start sewing want to purchase a sewing machine. You want to have a good sewing experience so it is very important that you choose the correct type. Let us have a look at the types of machines there are available so you can make an informed decision.

The Electronic Sewing Machine

Most people who sew have this model, or started with this one. It works with electricity which drives an electrical motor. The motor drives the needle, bobbin and the feed dogs. With this machine you have a foot pedal, one can compare it to the gas pedal in a car the more you push down the faster the car goes and in this regard the sewing machine.

This is a safe bet and will do all the basic sewing you would require. The Computerized Sewing Machines

This is basically like the electronic model, however more apt technology has been incorporated. They offer many fascinating features Indeed they are computerized; they come with screens which show you the stitch selection, width, length etc. Everything on the computerized models is pre programmed such as your tension, length, width etc.

These machines are easy to use and very user friendly. There are quite a few models on the market you can choose from, so again you will have to select one that will fit your budget and your needs. There are models which cost a pretty penny, but you will certainly find one that will be perfect for you.

Overlocker Machines

An overlocker is certainly a luxury. What this machine does it finishes off the work very professionally. This can be done with an electric and computerized machine as well, but as said not on such a professional level.

The problem is that you will always need an additional sewing machine; you cannot only use an overlocker as its functions are limited. If you are a beginner then this machine will not be a necessity, later if you have become better at sewing you can additionally purchase this machine. A lot of people who do sewing professionally have these machines and it would be a great investment for your business.

The Manual Sewing Machine

Just because they are operated by turning a handle doesn’t mean that they don’t work well. This machine does not work with electricity. What you have to do is turn a handle which powers the machine. They are of good quality and can perform very well. These machines aren’t much in use anymore, but back in the day people had no other option. Time has given us new models which are much easier to operate.

As you can see there are quite a few options. Currently most buyers go for a computerized sewing machine, because it has everything you could possibly want and technology makes sewing a breeze.
