I have always fancied embroidery, with its intricate pattern, the person behind the craft must have invested a huge amount of detail just to finish a piece as eye-catching and intricately woven as the pieces we now admire in stores.

However, cool embroidered patches are also created by organizations in order to distinguish membership or rank. Thus it is common to see embroidered patches on school uniforms. Moreover, this is also employed by other independent groups in order to mark honors.

For others, patches have become a fashion statement in order to endorse their individuality or to display art or expressions like what you see on a biker patch.

These embroidered patches can be created by hand or through the use of specialized machines. The contemporary methods of embroidery utilize computer digitization. In most cases, polyester and rayon are used, but hemp and cotton are also used every so often.

Sew-on patches, on the other hand are attached onto the cloth through the use of glue or the ever reliable thread and needle. Other backings may include magnets, rubber, or Velcro.

The market patronizes a huge variety of embroidered patches, each one has is its own differing design, shape, color and components.

One hidden advantage of using patches is that when you have a uninspired piece of clothing, you can just add this to your clothing and get a boost of appeal right away! Moreover, if your pants get ripped by chance you can cover the hole using embroidered patches. Very functional indeed!
